Do you ever find yourself knocked off your feet by someone’s acts of kindness? Especially when that someone is so considerate of your circumstances that they know how to swoop in just when you need it most?
I used to think I was a pretty nice person, but I think what that really meant was I said “less mean” things than other people I knew….HUGELY different than true kindness.
With a 9-month old who’s already endured more hospital stays than her momma probably ever will in life, and then having to start an (unrelated) elimination diet for the baby (and then throw 6 September weddings in for good measure), I was already pretty tapped out on time to cook anything other than boiled veggies and chicken. Enter Jacin of Lovely Little Details, her culinary genius, and her ginormous heart. Random acts of kindness, as she prescribes on her blog, are truly her M.O. I came home from the hospital yesterday to this:
Homemade stuffed peppers, apple crisp, chicken chipotle adobo soup, apple cider, raspberry jam, apple sauce, (did I mention all homemade) and ingredients to make pork tenderloin and an enclosed recipe for elimination-diet friendly pumpkin spice cookies. Complete with beverages for every occasion – wine, coffee, wild berry seltzer – a lovely lavender sachet (homemade, of course) and Numi mint tea for relaxation, and that gorgeous ombre pashmina you see underneath.
And the clincher – ALL without wheat, milk/dairy, eggs, soy, and tree nuts. I’m a newbie to this diet, but it seems scouring label after label for these things can take FOREVER. Jacin was even kind enough to leave a detailed list of ingredients for every. single. thing. This is coming off of a maximum-drama double wedding weekend, when most normal human beings would consider, oh, maybe a NAP?!! And this isn’t the first time she’s done this surprise elfing.
Angel, saint, expert chef, lovely friend, Jacin Fitzgerald. She inspires selflessness.
After seeing the organic quality of Floral Theory‘s work, I was excited to work with Yasmin on her new branding. Here are some of the sketches before we settled on the tone and neutral color of the final logo.
I realize that you don’t really have a blog unless you have blog posts…it’s just that the convenience of Instagram is always so irresistible!! This is my first attempt to mend my errant ways – here are a few shots of writing styles I have been using.
Welcome to my tiny blog! In addition to foisting my wares upon you, I’ll be posting news, works in progress, and hopefully *some* useful information here.
A lovely photo post is coming your way on Thursday. In the meantime, here’s a little birthday card made recently for a dear friend.
…to this blog, too
